As the Ergenekon R&D Team, we began our operations in 2024 within Gazi University, focusing on defense and communication technologies. We develop innovative, national, and original solutions through participation in national and international competitions. Our current R&D projects include laser-guided and AI-based air defense systems, AI-driven 5G positioning technologies, and secure satellite communication systems. Our team consists of over 30 skilled undergraduate students from computer engineering, electrical-electronics engineering, energy systems engineering, and industrial design engineering. Our mission is to contribute to technological independence.
Burkay – Laser-Guided & AI-Powered Smart Air Defense System Developed in line with modern aerial threat dynamics, Burkay is a dual-mode (autonomous + operator-controlled) air defense platform that combines real-time object detection, precision tracking, and laser engagement. Powered by a YOLOv8 + ByteTrack AI architecture, it achieves over 79% detection accuracy at 5+ meters, with 30+ FPS performance. The system uses a custom-designed PCB integrating laser/fan/motor control, real-time feedback, and robust safety layers including emergency stop, overheating protection, and communication integrity. With its modular structure and advanced user interface (PyQt6), Burkay offers scalable, secure, and high-performance defense capability.
The Ergenekon R&D Team, founded by students from Gazi University, will present its nationally developed defense technologies in this session. Our projects range from AI-powered air defense systems to 5G-based positioning solutions and secure satellite communication technologies. As young engineers, we aim to contribute to our country's technological independence. Our technical expertise, interdisciplinary approach, and forward-looking vision come together in this presentation.
